Long before the furniture arrives, every detail of a home has already begun taking shape. The floor plan, architectural details, cabinetry, lighting, stone, flooring, fabrics, furnishings, and finishes are all pieces of a much larger vision.

For the 2026 Dream Home in Aledo, Texas, that vision began with a feeling: warm, collected, inviting, and effortlessly refined.

Inspired by the relaxed elegance of a California retreat with a subtle hint of Cabo, the home was designed around warm neutrals, earthy materials, natural textures, and thoughtfully placed touches of blue. Mediterranean-inspired architecture provided the foundation, while layers of material, color, and custom detailing gave the home its personality.

Now, as Dream Home 2026 prepares to open its doors, we are taking you behind the design and sharing how it evolved from an idea into a finished home.

It Started With a Feeling

Before selecting a single piece of furniture, we establish how we want a home to feel.

For Dream Home 2026, the inspiration was relaxed luxury. We wanted the home to feel elevated without being overly formal and beautiful without sacrificing comfort.

The original mood board became our visual roadmap. Warm woods, creamy neutrals, natural stone, woven textures, touches of blue, and organic forms established a palette that could carry throughout the entire home while allowing each room to develop an identity of its own.

Designing From the Ground Up

Great interior design begins long before installation day.

As the home moved through construction, the vision began appearing in the architectural details. Arched openings softened transitions between spaces. Cabinetry, countertops, flooring, plumbing, lighting, hardware, and paint selections began building upon one another.

This is one of our favorite parts of the design process because it is where decisions made months earlier finally begin to have a physical presence.

And it is also why we believe involving an interior designer early in a luxury custom home is so important. The finished furnishings are only one layer. The architecture and interiors should be designed to tell the same story from the very beginning.

Before the Furniture

There is something special about seeing a home just before installation.

The rooms may be empty, but the design is already there.

Statement stone, custom cabinetry, architectural ceilings, lighting, tile, millwork, and carefully selected finishes create the foundation of each space. At this stage, you can see just how much of the character of a home comes from decisions made well before a sofa or accessory enters the room.

For Dream Home 2026, those details were intentionally designed to stand on their own while leaving room for the final layers to completely transform each space.

And Then, We Layer

This is where everything changes.

Furniture brings scale. Rugs create softness. Drapery adds movement. Art introduces personality. Bedding, florals, accessories, and collected objects make a room feel complete.

But installation is not simply about filling an empty space.

Each layer is an extension of the original concept, from the larger furniture pieces down to the smallest styling detail. When those selections have been considered together from the beginning, the finished home feels cohesive without feeling overly coordinated.

That is the difference between decorating individual rooms and designing a home as a whole.

The 2026 Dream Home benefits A Wish with Wings, helping support an organization dedicated to granting wishes for children facing life-threatening medical conditions.

Design has the ability to create beautiful places for people to live, gather, and connect. But when that creativity can also contribute to something greater, the impact reaches far beyond the walls of the home.

The Final Layer: Welcoming You In

From the first inspiration images to construction, installation, and the final styling details, Dream Home 2026 has been a study in thoughtful layering.

Now, there is only one thing left to add: people.
