Building Hope: Partnering with National Angels to Design a Space That Changes Lives

Last week, our team gathered in Austin to celebrate the groundbreaking of a truly meaningful project with Austin Angels, the Austin chapter of National Angels, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the experience of foster care across the country. We are deeply honored to be designing their new facility, a state-of-the-art space that will serve as a place of safety, belonging, and hope for foster children and families in Central Texas.

A Mission Rooted in Love, Dignity, and Relationship

The mission of National Angels is to walk alongside children, youth, and families in the foster care community through consistent support, intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship. Their work is built on a belief that every child should feel a deep sense of belonging and every caregiver should be radically supported.

Their programs are designed to empower, encourage, and uplift. From mentorship and relationship-building initiatives to the tangible support provided through Love Boxes, the organization focuses on the whole person—offering connection, stability, and a sense of being seen. Their vision is for every child and youth who experiences foster care to reach their fullest potential and for every family who fosters to be supported in ways that are personal, sustainable, and transformative.

At Semmelmann Interiors, that mission speaks directly to our hearts. We believe in the power of environment to nurture the soul, in spaces that serve and support the people who inhabit them. This project represents more than design. It represents the meeting point between purpose and place. It is about creating a sanctuary where families can gather, children can dream, and communities can grow stronger together.

Designing with Purpose and Intention

For us, design is an act of service. Every space we create carries intention. This facility will be more than walls and furnishings. It will be a reflection of love in action. Every finish, every light fixture, every thoughtful detail will be chosen to create warmth, connection, and calm. From collaborative spaces that foster mentorship to quiet corners meant for reflection and rest, every element will embody the heart of National Angels’ mission.

Design has the power to heal, to bring beauty where there has been hardship, and to remind people that they are worthy of care. When a space is built on love and purpose, it becomes a vessel of hope. That belief guides every decision we make in this project and in every philanthropic effort we pursue.

A Culture of Giving and Servanthood

Philanthropy is not an afterthought at Semmelmann Interiors. It is part of our foundation. Our belief that the spirit of living is in the giving has shaped who we are and how we show up in the world. Over the years, we have had the privilege of contributing to organizations that support children, families, and individuals in need, including A Wish With Wings, the American Heart Association, Cook Children’s, St. Jude, National Angels, and many others.

We see generosity as a responsibility and a calling. It is an extension of our faith and a reflection of the gratitude we feel for the opportunity to do what we love. Partnering with National Angels reinforces that belief in a profound way. Together, we are building a foundation of hope and belonging—brick by brick, beam by beam, relationship by relationship.

Building on a Firm Foundation

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Susan wrote a message on the foundation beam that read, “House on a rock. Building on a firm foundation.” Those words perfectly capture the spirit of this collaboration. Like a home built on faith, this facility will stand as a symbol of strength, purpose, and perseverance. It will serve as a reminder that what we build together has the power to outlast us and to change lives for generations to come.

As this project moves from vision to reality, we are filled with gratitude for the opportunity to use our creativity for something that truly matters. This partnership is a testament to what can happen when design and purpose meet—when art and service work together to tell a story of love, resilience, and restoration.

We are honored to walk alongside the incredible team at National Angels and Austin Angels, and we look forward to sharing more updates as this project comes to life. To learn more about how you can support their mission through mentorship, volunteering, or giving, visit AustinAngels.com.
